Venus Theatre expands their summer camp into a five week two hundred hour theatrical experience for teens. The group will experience introductory work, spend a week seeing professional plays, and spend three weeks exploring and creating their own show. Camp will end with a performance for the public on Friday August 22nd.

GALA's Paso Nuevo program works to build lasting relationships with youth, helping them to discover their creative voice, and to see themselves as agents of change in their communities. The summer program has 10 participants and is led by Quique Aviles and Juan Pablo Ibarra. The youth are busy writing material, developing their performance skills, and taking field trips. They will present their work on August 24, 2008.

An opportunity for children and their families to watch a season preview performance and to sample drama, dance, and musical theatre classes or hands-on arts activities. Families can also stroll down Del Ray Avenue for a full Block Party from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM for even more activities and family-oriented food and fun (participating businesses include Wiggle Room, Jabberu, Hard Times Café, Daisy Baby, MusiKids, and Guardado's). PRICE: FREE September 5: 6:00 PM-8:00 PM "Teen Party & Sample Clases" for families with older children, Grade 6 through 12 September 6: 9:30 AM-12:30 PM for families with children ages 1-5 1:30 PM-4:30 PM for families with children, Kindergarten-Grade 5

All performances will be presented on Monday evenings at 6:00 and 7:30 PM in the intimate Helen Hayes Gallery of the National Theatre, located at 1321 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW in Washington, DC. Admission is free, and seating is limited. Tickets are required and distributed 30 minutes prior to show time on a first-come, first-served basis.
